Two things. 1. It had to be Fred. She was using a sort of formula when writing her story in which the 'red' character had to die right before Harry went to the forest. It could have been Hagrid (because Rubeus means red) or Fred. It's the same reason that Sirius and Dumbledore had to die

I'm not very fond of the third movie, Prisoner of Azkaban, and truthfully could never understand why the majority of the HP fanbase considers it their favorite. For me, it was one of my least favorite in the series (I rank only Goblet of Fire well and truly below it).
It's kind of hard to explain. It just seemed to struggle to find its proper feel. The first two were obviously and shamelessly children's movies and worked very well at that. The later films, from Order of the Phoenix on, were much more adult, darker and deeper. PoA tried to be both, and the result (for me) was this awkward film of a series in its uncomfortable adolescence phase. Sure, a lot of the visuals were great, and there was some great acting and sublimely unstated moments. There was a lot of cheesiness too, though, that didn't seem to fit in.
I don't know--overall, this one just didn't do it for me. I even watched it an additional time to force myself to see what everyone else saw in it, and I still didn't "get it."

Yes! Thank you! The first two movies seemed lighter and as the movies progressed, it slowly bacame darker. Except for the third movie. The theme was a HUGE leap from The Chamber of Secrets, you know? The colors were very cold, very sad.
I know this is really off the point, but I want to put this out there.
Hufflepuff.
What on earth is wrong with Hufflepuff? It's my favourite house and I would be so honoured if was considered good enough to be sorted there. But some people are really dissapointed on Pottermore or are hating on it. Why? What's wrong with kind, loyal, honest, accepting people? Why... are those bad things? Surely these people would be generally great people. I get that some people think Hufflepuff takes in leftovers, but... Look, people can be really judgemental, or just won't accept you for who you are. And then there's Hufflepuff, who loves you whether you're smart, brave, cunning (I guess...), kind, or just yourself.
Can someone explain this to me please?
I was Sorted into Hufflepuff on Pottermore and I'll admit I was rather disappointed... Hagrid's "load o' old duffers" quote in the first book stuck with me for the rest of the series, I guess. I always thought that they weren't particularly smart (very hardworking, but not much intellect - or they'd be in Ravenclaw).
The best thing about them is their loyalty, I find. They'd fight for someone they loved and trusted, which is kind of like Gryffindor, and I really liked the fact that for the final battle, Hufflepuff was the house with the greatest number of people staying behind to hide. I mean, no Gryffindors left, of course, but compared to only the handful of Ravenclaws who stayed...
And hey! My friend told me that JK Rowling herself is a Hufflepuff, so we've got good company!

After reading all of the earlier posts I realized this might not be a very unpopular opinion, but whatever: I think Snape is an awful person. Okay, sure, he DID have a bad childhood and the Marauders shouldn't have bullied him, but that is NOT an excuse for hating Harry! I know that Snape was a good person and that in the end he was quite nice, but that doesn't really make up for six years of complete rudeness. I always hated the chapters with his lessons and I will not forgive him for being mean to Neville.
Oh and about this Fred thing: I think it was necessary for him to die, because otherwise the ending wouldn't have been as moving as it is. Well, of course I would be happier with Percy dead instead of Fred (what a rhyme!), but being happy isn't always the same thing as enjoying a great ending, I think.

I greatly disliked Ron and Harry. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the series. It has taken over my life since i first picked up the book. I just didn't like Ron or Harry all that much.

Yeah, and even worse about Snape: If it were IRL and anyone other than Alan Rickman and with none of that tragic, uplifting music playing--the whole notion of a man going into a murdered couple's home and hugging the corpse of an already married woman (while presumably stepping over her husband's corpse) while their newly orphaned infant son looks on is, actually INCREDIBLY CREEPY. Seriously, call the ****ing cops. In the real world, he would be put in an institution and would probably make headlines on CNN for a solid week or so.
But maybe we Muggles just don't understand true love or something like that.

One of my friends told me that Snape disliked Neville because if Voldemort had decided that Neville was the one who would defeat him, Lily Evans would never have been in danger. Which I must admit makes a lot of sense.

What I didn't understand was why Snape was so mean to Hermione. I mean, even Slughorn saw the similarities between Lily and Hermione, so obviously that should have occurred to Snape?
I really don't like the seventh book. It's not something that I read over and over. I guess I just love Hogwarts so much, and in the seventh book they were not really there except for the battle. And then it got DESTROYED And I hated reading about how the Ministry of Magic treated Muggle-borns. It literally made me want to throw up. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way, but I just hate reading it.
