Honestly i thought that a lot of things in thg were bad but avoxs were the WORST. If i was an Avox i would probably die because i couldn't talk and no one could understand me. How do y'all think that they will make the Avoxs in the movie? i have no clue...

The only thing that bugged me about the avox were the fact they couldn't scream tho. You can totally scream without a tongue.
But the Avoxes were a pretty bad thing. poor Lavinia and Pollix

Yeah, Avoxs are pretty sick :/ I felt so bad for them. They remind me of this opera called The Medium. There's a character who's tongue was taken out. And he loves this girl but he can't say it. He dies in the end.... Pleasant, eh?

I don't think it'll show them with no toungues. I think it will probably have Effie or someone explain what they are.

They might do. I mean, the books are all about poverty and war and stuff, so why would they tune down all of that stuff? The books are good because of the way everything is written realistically, which gives it all the emotional weight. The stuff that happens is so fundamentally wrong.. And maybe they cut off their tongues really far back into their throats... I don't know, I don't really want to think about it

Of course, Katniss's Avox friend in book one is finally revealed to be named Lavinia. Collins uses a lot of Shakespeare references (I found EIGHTEEN Shakespeare names for instance). And Lavinia is the daughter of Titus Andronicus from the play of the same name. In the play, she's abused by some soldiers and then they cut off her tongue and her hand so she can't tell anyone her story. Like her, the avoxes are the perpetual victims, the voiceless disenfranchised minorities of their world.
