What do you think of the current initiation to get into the factions?
Candor- *unknown* Lie detector whilst asked personal questions. Dauntless- Three challenges- people shut out at every stage Abnegation- Community service and then getting your feet washed by an elder.
And what do you think the Erudite and Amity initiation are like?

Erudite initiation is probably a quiz of some sort since they love knowledge so much. It makes sense that they would keep the smartest people and get rid of the ones that don't make the grade. Amity likes being peaceful... Maybe they would have to stay calm under pressure, or refuse to fight even when provoked. I guess they only want the really mellow, laid-back peole in Amity.

Candor is known, it is lie dector tests for weeks, then a truth serum while they ask embarassing questions in front of everyone. Yours is very close! I think erudite's is as competetive as Dauntless, because they only want the smartest. It is most likely a variety of tests, some that you can study for and some that are a surprise (to test their natural intelligence). I think Amity is meditation, combined with being calm under frustrating tasks. I think that we will learn more about it in Insurgent.

Amity's I can see being very harsh. You just standing there while people beat the hell out of you and throw insults. And if you retaliate, you go through it an extra hour.

Wow... That is really harsh. In it's own way, it's almost as harsh as the Dauntless initiation. 3 things that I'd never be able to do. 1) Fight my fears in the Dauntless simulation, 2) Tell everyone the truth in the Candor initiation, and 3) Do nothing while people attack me. Dauntless must Amity are pretty similar, it's just how you choose to respond. Choices, choices...

the only thing about your idea for the amity one is who would do it? The amity leaders sure as hell wouldn't be able to hurt someone defenceless, it goes against their whole thing. I'm thinking maybe it's like, verbal abuse? Like someone comes in and is a complete bitch to you, and you just have to take it.

Since the Amity are too kind to kick out the people who don't pass initiation/ aren't peaceful enough, I figure that they might keep them around just to torment the next batch.

That's a really interesting idea. I just don't know if they'd have the heart even to do that... Although I suppose it would seem better than being faction-less. I bet the Erudite initiation involves some sort of logical thinking test, or those annoying riddle-type problems. I hate those... And that's why I'm not an Erudite xD

Hello, Written at the request of her advanced students, "Initiation" is an illuminating autobiography that connects the twentieth century European life of internationally beloved teacher Elisabeth Hatch and her lucid memories of initiation into the hidden mystical teachings of the priesthood in ancient Egypt. A compelling story within a story emerges detailing the life experiences that catalyses her spiritual path. In an earlier life in ancient Egypt, a young woman is prepared for initiation into the esoteric secrets of the priesthood of the High Priest Ptahhotep, who instructs her step-by-step, consistent with her development, in the universal truths of life.
