Well, I said "dangerous" and here you are.
BBC Sherlock is currently my favorite show... which means it's beating out Doctor Who. Which is pretty damn hard, don't you think?
I am currently trying to avoid spoilers for the second series, but there clearly needs to be a Sherlock thread here. So yeah.
Has anyone else seen the South Korean ads for the first series? I love them so much... [of course, I'm a huuuuge Watlock shipper...] But I can't help but wonder if something was lost in translation when they were talking about the show.

It is very good. It's all action-y and exciting and stuff. (I am very bad at describing things.) And there are only three episodes, so the fans are totally crazy and come up with the most hilarious things (and the best fan fiction.)

This thread needs to be revived, because frankly, BBC Sherlock is the best screen adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work that I have ever seen. And I am a difficult woman to please. And I can overlook the modern setting, for this.
Don't even get me started on all their millions of little references, and nods to past actors-who-played-Holmes, and everything. And the smartness. God. You guys.
also i totally admit i had a very sexy dream about moriarty there i said it
I am usually so ridiculously articulate, but this show just brings out all my feels. It has amazing actors (and actresses), it has been superbly written, the cinematography is nothing short of beautiful, and the amount of references they make to the original stories (and to previous adaptations) absolutely make up for the odd liberty they take (modern setting/Adler is a dominatrix/etc). Also. Irish Moriarty. Why has nobody done this before? I mean, it's not a strong accent (believe me. It's not. You wouldn't be able to understand him if it was a strong accent), but Moriarty is, actually, an Irish surname, and nobody has had an Irish Moriarty before. Why? It defies logic.
Erm. I'm sorry for my rant. I get a little... over excited... about Sherlock Holmes things. >.<

I admit, I've still not watched the Warner Bros film version all the way through. I can't stand RDJ as Sherlock Holmes. It just doesn't work, for me. They tried, bless them, but it just has nothing on BBC's version. Possibly because Moffat and Gatiss are massive Holmes geeks, and it's made them very dedicated to putting out a top quality product, I'm not sure.
I loved Andrew Scott as Moriarty, though. And he had some amazing lines, and he acted them so well! He was such a fantastic villain.

Wasn't he just! It give me shivers just thinking about it. The "easter bunny" this year is bringing the second series on DVD! so excited. Moffat and Gatiss might have ruined doctor who but they are amazing sherlock holmes writers!
I didn't mind RDJ as Sherlock but he doesn't hold a candle to BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH! The movies are alright but SHerlock is so much better!

The movies are alright but SHerlock is so much better! I got the season 1+2 box set as an early Easter present. So far I've watched the pilot five times, the commentaries thrice each, and the making of... Innumerable times. I don't even know how many times I've seen the episodes. And every time I clock something new.
Oh, god, though, Cumberbatch is such an amazing actor, anyway. Have you seen any of his other stuff? He's spectacular.
I can't put into words how much I love this adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. It's perfect. I thought I was going to hate it, at first (modernise Holmes? England would fall. Or so I thought.) but I think it's probably the truest to the originals, if I'm honest with myself.

I love that about it, every time I watch an episode again, I pick up new stuff! I wish there were more though! I've seen a couple of other things with him in,he's pretty amazing at acting. Also I love Martin Freeman as John. WOW. He deserves that role in the Hobbit . I also thought it was going to be terrible, not because of the modern thing but because of Steven Moffat... BUT I LOVED IT. I agree it's impossible to put into words how amazing this series is!

Martin Freeman is one of my favourite actors ever. He's awesome. And so adorable! I know it's kind of not a thing one should say about a grown man, but he's just... Aww, he's like a puppy. I just want to bake him a massive cookie, make him a cuppa and give him a massive hug. He's such a loveable bloke.
I'm actually really looking forward to The Hobbit. Partically because I'm a massive LoTR fan, but mainly because there are some amazing actors in it.
I kind of like Moffat, as a writer. I just hate him as a person. He always comes accross as so self-important. He might not be, it might just be me, but it annoys me so much. The way I see it, if Cumberbatch, who grew up in one of the "posher" parts of London and went to frikkin public school, can be modest and relatively down-to-Earth, Moffat can put the effort into doing it too. >_>

I agree you just want to go up and give him a big hug! LoTR is amazing. I've only gotten into them recently and I really enjoyed them! I watched the 4 hour extended editions but it was worth sitting there for that time! And I agree with you about Moffat. He come across as being awfully pleased with himself all the time, which is a horrible trait to appear to have. He seems to think that everything he writes is amazing (sherlock is!) but it isn't always.
