Oh please tell me someone knows this.
If not, it's forty-two minutes and available on NetFlix.
It's probably one of the finniest, saddest things I've seen. Oh and it has Neil Patrick Harris. 'Nuff Said.
Basic summary (Which will probably suck, please don't take my word for it):
A blogging supervillain (Neil Patrick Harris) named Dr. Horrible is struggling to beat his nemesis, Captain Hammer and impress the Evil League of Evil to take over the world. Meanwhile, in his daily life as Billy, a dorky guy regularly visiting his laundromat, he finds himself drawn to a girl named Penny (Felicia Day), a bleeding-heart homeless shelter volunteer with great hair who doesn't know he exists. Both issues about which he tells his vlog viewers.
With his Freeze Ray nearing completion, Dr. Horrible continues to be defeated by Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion), the garish, cheesy, promiscuous and egotistic thickhead of a superhero, who seems to like Penny for all the WRONG reasons.
With all his failurs both personally as Billy and professionally as Dr. Horrible (Who holds a Ph.D in Horribleness), he adds a Death Ray to his intended Freeze Ray, murder becoming the only option to show the LEague that his world domination plot and his abilities are serious.
I won't give any specific events, or the ending to those of you who may not know it yet.
But I will say, I ADORE this film. The music is cute, semi-alternative and has great usage of catchy melodies and interesting harmonies. I normally hate low-budget, but this really didn't need it, aside from the 'explosion' haha.
I find it to be one of the funniest, quirkiest and cutest films ever in character, mannerism, cong and costume. Billy/Dr. Horrible is a very sweet, well-intended guy in the end, Moist is the cutest henchman ever and Penny is a great gal.
Besides, we all know that 'the hammer' really is now.
I quote this daily. I swear.
It's also one of the saddest, most ironic films ever, and the ending is... real to me.
In any case, Joss Whedon is a boss for directing it and Neil, Felicia and Nathan rocked it. Quirky characters, cute songs and a fun take on heroes and villains.
Anyone else got an opinion?
