Just a quick question, I was wondering what other fans thought about the movie prequels. Have you seen them? Did you like them? Personally, I liked them, but they weren't nearly as good as the original movies, they just didn't capture my interest as much.

I'm a big Star Wars fans and I found them frustrating.
It was great to see shiny new effects and get some good backstory here and there, but the script was terrible. Some truly amazing actors were involved and even they couldn't pull off that storyline!
As with most of his movies in recent years, I think George Lucas was just looking to line his pockets without too much effort.

I was really upset after the first veiwing, then Ewan McGregor made me feel a bit better cause, well, he's Ewan McGregor! After multiple veiwings they have landed in the "okay..." group for me. I appreciate that they continued with ancient Rome as a historical tie-in, but the sub-plots where simply not as exciting as the first movies.

The prequels were definitely meant to draw in the younger generation into the whole Star Wars universe. Unfortunately, the ones who grew up with it, like myself, may have found it entertaining, but in hindsight realized that there were a lot of flaws and missed marks that made us miss the good old' storytelling style of the originals.
Sure, the effects were great and there were some really good action sequences, but the storyline faltered and it seemed that the actors weren't given enough time to really get into their characters, nor did it seem that some of them had really good chemistry (ehem, Padma/Anakin).
I wish they could've done something with Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy instead, but I know it would've been difficult to pull off since the originals would've had to come back. But still.

I really like them a lot more then a lot others did. I have heard a big reason the first three where the best is that it made the world gigantic, infinite in imagination, the Jedi counsel where wise rulers who had the good of everyone in their hearts. The second made the grasp of the universe realistic, created boundaries, made everything a lot more political, and made the jedi rulers a lot more corrupt.
Truly I see nothing wrong with that, it made it a lot more realistic and interesting. The movies being good vs. bad was just too eh for me, having a lot more grey in it made it a lot more interesting to see.

Episode I: I haven't seen it in a long time, but I like it. But that may change once I see the 3D re-release. (Hey, I don't care whether Han nor Greedo shot first (but the dude from "Takers" and Jar Jar Binks Episode VI - no. Just no. '97 special editions all the way!)).
Episode II: Never existed for me.
Episode III: Actually good.

At the time, I really liked it. I had grown up watching the original trilogy as a kid and this was the first time I had ever seen star wars on the big screen. So I thought that was cool. Now I have mixed feelings. I love them for the experience. I dislike them for the story. That being said, I did love seeing episode 3.

It's always going to be 4,5,6 then 1,2,3 in that viewing order for me. Thats the way it was meant to be shown and that is how I'm showing them to my kids when I have any lol.
