I keep hearing so much about this series but.... I have no idea what the heck the uglies are?! It's a utopian series set 300 years into the future, at 16 everyone gets an operation that makes you pretty and and immune to sickness. But as Tally learns, there is a not so pretty side to the operation. It really is a great series, here is a link to the author's blog thing: scottwesterfeld.com/books/uglies/

I have always been one to read the mainstream books that are popular and I have definitely heard about this but I have never had any idea whats its about! Definetly going to try and read it!

I keep hearing so much about this series but.... I have no idea what the heck the uglies are?! Okay, so Uglies is a sci-fi/dystopian series/trilogy about a society where normal-looking people are considered "ugly", and at the age of sixteen, people get surgery to become a "pretty". "Pretties" are treated far better than the rest of society, and they get to have no curfew, parties all night, own hoverboards (did I mention there are hoverboards? Because there are hoverboards, and they're amazing.) So there's this girl named Tally, who is an ugly, and she meets a girl named Shay, who...well, I won't give away anymore. Suffice to say, Shay changes Tally's life. The books are, in this order, Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras.

I have heard it's a good book to read after Hunger Games...
Is that true? I'm going to the book store and I don't know if I should pick it up or not :/

I read this book back when it came out in 2005 and it was AMAZING. Even though I don't remember much of the details, whenever I think of it I always think of the perfect series. I'm going to reread it(:
