How about Witch & Wizard by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet?
A really good book series about 2 teenagers who overnight are arrested, taken from home and accused of witchcraft. And the government is trying to suppress music, art, books, everything we take for granted. Really good.

Anything written by the incomprable Tamora Pierce (whose books made me the reader I am today)
Amelia Atwater-Rhodes' Den of Shadows Quartet (wrote her first published book at age 13!) and
PineLight by Jillian Peery (new author to definately watch - sequel coming out soon ^.^)

Then you really will love Peery - PineLight only came out last June and I've probably read it ten times since, if not more.

The Millennium series by Stieg Larsson. Now that's a good series for a book club.
