Okay, again there is no way for Octavian to be the reincarnation of Luke since Luke only died like 2 years ago. I dont have the book and with wikipedia being down today as protest against SOPA, I cant back it up. But Octavian is older than 10. Much older than 2. Its not possible for him to have been reincarnated as a teenager. Has anyone considered the obvious idea that maybe he is related to Octavian on his mothers side? It could explain the physical similarities much easier since we already know that Octavian is not a child of Hermes or Mercury. Octavian is a descendant of Apollo. We know that Octavian is not the reincarnation of Luke, no one said he was. Maybe. Say, Octavians mother was May's sister, and one of their parents was a decendant of Apollo. That might explain why May could see through the mist and why she thought she could be the ocracle. And Luke could have any number of other relations on his moms side, however distant that we don't know about. Then again, I don't exactly know too much about Luke's family. Wait a tick. Anyone know on what side Octavian is descendant from Apollo? Because its impossible as far as I know for another person to be both descended from a god and the child of one. Frank is the only one I know of. And Hera stated he was too powerful with that combination. Which is why his life is bound to the piece of wood. So it couldnt have been a sister. That would have made Luke a son of Hermes and a descendant of Apollo. Too powerful. i think you're right and he's done a Bianca and been reincarnated. You sure about that?

I'm curious to know on which side Octavian's related to Apollo....
I mean, I've never really put much thought into it, but now that people mention it....
I don't think he really has a connection to Luke though. I mean, Sally could see through the mist too, and I'm pretty sure she has no connection to Apollo....

I actually really doubt that Luke is in any way connected with octavian. It was just that he had the same hair and eye colour and percy didn't like him that he reminded him of Luke. In fact, if you're wanting to be compeltely canon about things, we don't even know it was Luke who Octavian reminded him of, it's just assumed. (I'm pretty sure it was Luke, but we don't KNOW that) And i never I said was sure, i said "I think"

Has anyone else wondered just why we never heard of descendants of the gods existing before now? Is it because the Greeks are weaker in terms of power, or is it that most greek demigod heroes don't live long enough to have children?

i know ! I believe it is because many Green DemiGods don't live long enough - but some might - It will be interesting to see if they come into the story - they are like demidemigods- they must have some godly traits.

I think it might just be that Greek demigods aren't as well protected. I mean, Roman campers can live at Camp Jupiter their whole lives and never have to go back to the mortal world. Greek campers *could* do that, at least for a little while. But they wouldn't be able to go to college at camp and start a family there like the campers at CJ can....

Romans prefer working as team instead of acting on their own, so it makes sense that the Greeks would go off and do their own thing while the Romans stick together. It also seems that Romans have more trouble letting go of things and have longer memories. Distant descendants of Gods are allowed into Camp Jupiter rather than just direct descendants, and the Romans still believe that the Greeks are the enemy when the Greeks seem to have let it go and moved on.

I know that Chiron has pictures on his wall of former campers, but its one thing to have pictures, and another one to actually meet former campers. Ones who have grown up and survived.

Other than Daedalus? I'm kind of interested to see which god's kids would have the best chance of surviving outside of camp. I mean, not all of them are year-round campers. Which cabin do you think is.... the safest? I guess? I'd guess that the Aphrodite kids probably don't have to worry too much....

Yeah, the less powerful the god, the higher chance of survival i'm thinking. So Mr. D's kids would probably be fine after a little combat training, as well as aphrodite and maybe Demeter

Demeter's kids can nag their enemies to death. XD
I'd think at least like.... 1/2 of the Apollo kids would be pretty safe.....

Probably. But I guess Athena's kids would be really curious and would end up getting themselves into dangerous situations on their search for knowledge. Because there's no way anyone from the Athena cabin would have any boring, safe jobs. I mean, if Annabeth had the choice, she'd rebuild the entire world. I wouldn't be suprised if they all have huge aspirations.
