Ok heres what we know about series 7.
LAST UPDATED: 28 January 2012
Airdate
Begins Autumn 2012 (Filming to begin 20th February 2012, according to Matt Smith)
13 episodes + 2012 Christmas Special
Other notes: It is still not clear if all 14 episodes will air in 2012. There has been conflicting info. Originally BBC Controller Danny Cohen said not all episodes will be shown, but Steven Moffat later seemingly denied that this was the case. In January, Moffat promised just at least 14 episodes, but didn’t specify when they would air.
Main Cast
Matt Smith – The Doctor
Karen Gillan – Amy (unspecified amount of episodes)
Arthur Darvill – Rory (unspecified amount of episodes)
TBC – New companion
Other notes: According to Moffat, “We’ll see a lot of Amy”, but both her and Rory will leave during the series in a “heartbreaking” way. Karen Gillan said that Amy dying is a possibility. Recently Gillan commented that she will appear in “a few episodes. A few really good episodes.”
We will see a new companion sometime during the series, but the role has not yet been cast. Moffat teased that the companion could be a “he, she or it.”
There are rumours that Sophia Myles is being lined up for next companion based on hints from Moffat and Myles on Twitter.
Returning Cast
Alex Kingston – River Song
Rumoured:
James Corden – Craig Owens
John Simm – The Master
John Barrowman – Captain Jack
Neve McIntosh & Catrin Stewart – Madame Vastra & Jenny
Mark Sheppard – Canton
Other notes: Moffat teased River’s return at the press screening of the Christmas special. Alex Kingston is rumoured to be filming scenes early February.
James Corden said he had discussed Craig’s return with Moffat and will do “everything in his power” to appear again.
John Simm was very enthusiastic about returning as the Master when asked about it on Twitter in January.
Monsters
Producer Marcus Wilson said that a couple of old classics from the 60′s and 70′s will return but will be “moved on a bit.” One of the rumoured monsters is revealed in this post.
Writers
Steven Moffat (5 episodes)
Mark Gatiss (1 episode)
John Fay (1 episode)
Other notes: Moffat has said it is unlikely there will be any two-part stories this year.

70? TBC
Written by Mark Gatiss
Gatiss confirmed he pitched the story idea to Steven Moffat late 2011. He revealed his episode contains the words ‘meat’, ‘klaxon’ and ‘Vienna’.
Also this from Steven Moffats introduction from the Melbourne Symphony orchestra:
“And then he’s about to say hello to someone very different – the Doctor is going to meet someone very new in the very last place he could ever have expected…”
Also some more writers have been announced:
Chibnall & Whithouse for Series 7
February 8th, 2012
Issue #444 of Doctor Who Magazine confirms another couple of writers for Series 7.
First up is Toby Whithouse. Whithouse has written three episodes since the show returned: School Reunion back in 2006, The Vampires of Venice in 2010 and last year’s The God Complex. His latest episode is described as a “big blockbuster of a genre piece”.
Whithouse told SFX that his story is currently planned as third episode and suggested it would be “one of the final ones” to feature Amy and Rory.
The other writer is Chris Chibnall, another returnee. He previously penned 42 in 2007 and The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood two-parter from 2010. Apparently his new episode contains the biggest set Doctor Who has ever had. Also has written Torchwood episodes.
So its basically a lot of vague hints, like last series... What do you think?
