I'm from England, and have come back from seeing Sea of Monsters in the cinema!!! I thought it was FANTASTIC!!! Thor Freudental knows what he's doing!!! It's such a shame that there's a time difference

I have to disagree, I was very disappointed with the movie. It didn't at all follow the book, and I felt lost. By the time the movie was nearly over, it felt like it was half way through. And the cool 3-D special effects does not make up for the fact that it was just like the lightning thief. While the first and second books were completely different, I can outline both movies with one synopses. 1. Percy and the gang sneak out of camp. 2. Percy and co. go on a life changing journey to their destination 3. Percy does something amazing. 4. Everyone returns safely. Happy ending. The differences in The Lightning Thief were bearable but in the new movie, it wasn't even close. ATTENTION SPOILER(for those who haven't seen the movie). Percy and the gang were not only eaten by Charybdis, but Percy also defeats preformed Cronus. I don't know about you but I don't remember that in the books.

When watching it, I felt that Thor had to make some of those changes, to rectify the damage done in the first film. The first film fails to introduce some key themes that run throughout the books - From this it was obvious that the second film couldn't be EXACTLY like the book, but I felt that the characters had more depth to them. SPOILER! I was slightly disappointed when I saw Kronos in the trailer, but I just took it as: They're not sure whether or not they will be able to make another one, so having Percy 'defeat' Kronos in Sea of monsters meant that it could be 'complete' if it is left that way, and also left it open so that there is room to potentially make a third film (probably combining Titan's Curse, Labyrinth and Last Olympian) if Sea of Monsters does well!!
Even though I love the books, I think that the Sea of Monsters film did the book way more justice than the first film in terms of including Clarisse and various other things!! I generally enjoyed it!!! ^_^

I felt that the movie started out really strong with great performances from Stanley Tucci as Mr D and Nathan Fillion as Hermes. (Who else loved that little Firefly reference he made?) I enjoyed Anthony Head but that might only be because of my overwhelming love for him from Buffy. I thought the way Tyson was done from the writing to the acting was poor all around, he was just kind of a crap character in the movie, I've gotta be honest. I liked Clarisse though. I though she was done really well.
But around halfway through the movie (their escape from the Princess Adromeda was when my urge to stab something became unbearable) everything basically made me want to cry or go on a homicidal rampage.
Now I'm no expert. But I am like 90% sure Civil War era artillery didn't work like that. And the ending, what was that giant firey jigsaw puzzle thing they called Kronos...? Didn't he look exactly like Hades in the begining of the first movie. And what was that about Silena suddenly being outwardly bad? The hades is going on?
And on a side note. I still f**king hate Annabeth in the movies. Like. Ugh. She's supposed to be smart...who launches a speedboat without putting it on the back first? Also I didn't see them fill it with freaking fuel! Like your supposed to attach it. Then out gas in. Then launch. Seriously. I wanna punch someone right now.
All in all. The film had some redeeming qualities. (Namely the Fall Out Boy at the beginning) but over all it kinda sucked. Badly.

I think the movies are meh but I love the books, as for the movies my two cents are stay as much with the storyline, Tyson was just there, he was explained why annabeth hated him by saying, oh, a cyclops killed Thalia, not what happened in the book I mean really -.-? Tyson didn't even make Percy's watch shield. And finally, go BIGGER at one point in the movie the defenders of the camp were wearing plastic armor, come on -.-
I wonder if this is how Harry potter fans felt after they read the books. Then watched the movie.

The movies do not follow the story!!! Trust me I was there! Well, maybe not physically there but...you know what I mean... Well, you'd better. Any way, I'll admit that Percy wasn't THAT dumb in real life! I mean he's a hero and I know heroes have their limits... Right Poseidon?! Any way Annabeth looks wrong and acts like a Minotaur and they are all like twenty!!! Every body thinks that heroes are like twenty! Ugh! And this Mist that they just spray on? C'mon mortals! Tyson... I think you get my point, but really? The animation was pretty good. I even caught Zeus watching it but it doesn't cut it for me. I'd also like to say to the Disney people who made the movie Hercules, where did you get these ideas? You think I'm pink!?! Ugh! I hate pink! What do you think I am? Aphrodite?!

The casting for the movies is awful. It looks to me as if they took a look at the description in the books and just said "Eh, Close enough." and the person doing the casting was blind and incredibly stupid. It also looks like the story went completely out of the window, you can't make a movie of a book if you aren't going to follow the book. People will hate it.

Thank you! A mortal who can actually see that this is bad! Can somebody tell me what they were thinking in Hercules? What's that Zeus? Oh that was made 20 years ago? I DON'T CARE!!!

I think they've ruined the possibility of making 6 films now. That said, If you never read the books, it is a marvellous film.

I do have to say that we should be glad that they even made a movie that made it to theaters and was not terrible quality or something. Some book series(Even if they are good) end up having really low budget movies and your like "Whaaat?! The books are WAY better!" so let's be glad that the animated parts are awesome looking.

So, I watched it here in Germany and when I visited my friend in France, we also went and watched it. I read all the books and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. There were so many good parts like Circes Island and the Syrenes (do you call them that in english? I'm not shure, but you get what I mean ). The only good thing was, that Annabeth finally got blonde hair. If you haven't read the books, then both movies are great, but like I said, it's very disappointing if you did.

Oh we spell it different in English. I'm pretty sure it's spelled S.I.R.E.N.S. but i could be wrong. I'm not the best speller in the world.
