I was a bit hesitant to read this, I am ashamed to say, because I watched the Twilight movies. But it was on sale and I know not to judge a book by it's movie. I loved it. She is an amazing writer.

I know! I love the host!
I had a dilemma at first - although i loved the twilight books (yes thats right i loved them XD ) i didn't think the host sounded like me , but my aunty owne d a copy and i read most of it - we were only staying a night but i loved it so much i nearly made it throwugh- iwas up to the bit where they are about to take her out of the body when we had to go and we had to abandon the book.. and i had to wait a painfilled MONTH before i could finish it.
regardless - it was amazing - a really interesting.. idea, and i liked the original love square/triangle thing X)

So, when I first read The Host, I was still obsessed with Twilight. I grew out of Twilight, but The Host is still an amazing book. I love the plot and characters. The entire idea was pretty brilliant. I think most people automatically disregard The Host because it was written by Stephanie Meyer...and they don't like the Twilight Saga. But this is different. The Host is her only adult novel, and you can definitely tell how her writing style changes when writing an adult book. I was impressed with it. I would definitely read it again. I found myself lost in the story. And, as we all know, that's a good thing

This book just proves what an amazing writer Stephanie Meyer is. She gets a lot of crap for writing twilight from a lot of people. Though I'm not a big Twilight fan, Stephanie Meyer is still ranked up there in my list of favorite authors simply because of this book. It was the first book I ever cried in (besides Harry Potter). I absolutely adore it! I recommend it to everyone I meet.

To be honest its the only book by Stephanie Meyer that I really liked. I only read twilight for a book club thing and finished a series because I hate not knowing what happens and leaving series unfinished. The host was a big improvement, you could see her writing style maturing, and as for the story I found it rather complex and intriguing. I found myself unable to put it down. Its a book I would actually recommend to people. I wish this fandom was bigger, this book really deserves more attention. I know many people who claim to love meyer and twilight and have no idea about the Host. The poor book may always be in the shadows of twilight.

the Host is the better book by Stephanie i think, i liked it so much better than the twilight series. and did you see the full cast listing for the movie? it looks pretty good.. but i dont get my hopes up, films never live up to the books for me, and i feel in love with the host when i read it

Everyone in the cast is talented and attractive so I'm really excited for the movie.
I think it's unfair when fan bases expect a movie to be as good as the book. Just enjoy the story as it's being adapted to the big screen! I think it'll be amazing. Films can help you see a story in ways you didn't before. It's a beautiful thing. It's irks me when people complain about small changes to the story or about how a certain character's hair color is different. Part of the magic of books is the fact that every single person who reads the book will interpret it differently. Watching a film adaptation lets everyone else in the world go into the mind of one of those readers (the director) and see what they saw when they read the book. Every persons imagination and ability to be creative with words is different.
So, I think we all need to chill when it comes to judging movies that come from books. It's too early in production to even judge the quality of the movie, but the cast is talented.

And I do still enjoy the story for cute fluff, but it was not the best writing. Over time I have grown out of Twilight, for the most part, but I still love The Host. It was such a good book. Stephenie's writing matured so much in this book and the story is really intriguing. It really upsets me when people won't read it because they don't enjoy twilight. The books are entirely different. As you mentioned, the host was an adult book, unlike twilight.
