So I am reading The Hunger Games for the very first time and already I have strong opinions of the book--that is is amazing!
It's so great and a masterfully sculpted dystopia! It's rare I find a dystpoia that's clearly a DYS-topia.
And as far as THG goes compared to other books: I've heard people compare it to Uglies and say how much the two are alike and it is NOTHING like Uglies in my opinion. I can't even place the two on the same continent in my mind. They are separate poles on a planet! Yes, they are both so awesome they get their own pole. I see one (Uglies) as a Utopia and (THG) as a Dystopia. Which is a good thing, it means each book has it's own uniqueness to it, so both are originals. And I LOVE Uglies and am really liking THG!
Okay, I am done with my little book comparison//review.
Some food for thought: ~What did YOU think the first time you picked up THG? ~Compared to other books, is there a book that's similar to THG in your opinion?

I couldn't stop reading it the moment i read the first page and it pulled me in and wanted me to read more!! Once I finished I had to wait for 8 months for the second one to come out so i read it over and over again! The Hunger Games really isn't similar to any other books that I have ever read but the love triangle between them is definitely similar in lots of books that I have read!

The first time i picked up the first book my only though was "have to read this seriers in two days...Leggo!" but while reading it i found it an interesting tale that weaved seamlessly between love, devotion, hate, and killing.
i compared it to 'The Warriors Heair'. its a book about a kid in modern day finding out he has a 'warriors stone' in his heart and becomes manipulated by wizards to fight for there cause of the 'war of the roses'. wich continued after the original war ended in Europe. the child endures many of the same hardships katniss endures and has to fight against someone he loves 'to the death'. verry good books ( the warriors heir was better in my opinion) but, nonetheless, they actually worked for a fair comparison. both being taken from home to fight to the death for a cause they don't believe in. Both sacrificing it all for the ones they love.
anyways THG good. TWH (the warriors heir) better. but good camparison.

I was so impressed. I read all of them in two days and I keep re-reading them every now and then because I enjoy them so much. I got so excited when I had time to read them. They make my heart race. I felt like I was really in the story (though I sure as eck didn't want to be!)
After reading the series for the first time, it occupied my thoughts day and night. I could honeslty compare it to a drug. This happened with some other books as well, but not a lot. c:

I was blown away! I connected to the first book in a way I hadn't before. As soon as I got to the second chapter I knew it was going to be amazing. When I read the second two I swear I exited reality for a whole weekend ; I don't even remember what I was doing inbetween reading! It was just me and the storyline. I love it when a book can do that. But I cant think of any books that it's similar to.
