Hello Everyone!
I just finished reading the first book. I really liked it, but I had one question. If Percy and his mother were lower class, & she had a job that didn't require a hs diploma, how could they afford to live in the upper east side? It leads me to believe the author didn't really do much research on NY living before he wrote the book. Also, maybe Gabe was paying the bills, but the author never said anything about his business being particularly successful. I know it doesn't really matter, but any thoughts?

Well I think Rick Riordan wanted Percy on the island of Manhattan for a reason that I will tell you(spoiler). If he lived in Queens or Brooklyn he wouldn't be on the island. Those are off on main land right? Sorry I'm kinda terrible at NY geography... I think that is a good question btw.
