Rick Riordan did a great job with modernizing Greek mythology. And to add, he even included the Romans to his writings and every single details are quite plausible.
Now, I've heard that his next series involves Egyptian mythologies. Will try The Kane Chronicles after finishing some of my to read lists.
Anyways, do you guys think he will tackle the Norse next? To be honest, Norse mythology really interests me more than the Greeks. Age of Mythology FTW!
Feel free to put in ideas on how Norse would fit in our modern times. =D

I don't know ,uch about Morse - but i'll look into it. i loved how the mythologies were intertwined with the plot- i am now facinated with it. I've started researching into it - and it's very cool. I'll look at Norse as well , and get back to you on that

I'v learned a lot of Greek mythology from the series. I, too, researched them after reading the books.

Sometimes though, Rick dumbed them down a bit. He said Dionysus found Ariadne after Theseus dumped her? In the myth Ariadne was married to Dionysus and Theseus just used her to get out of the maze. She tried to cheat on Dionysus but Theseus was like 'Pshh, I'm not messing with a God's wife, I just used you so I would't die." And dumped her on an island.

i don't know if he could do Norse cuase to go to Valhalla you have to be a god or a dead warrior. also the whole book would be mainly centered around Mid-gard (spelled rite?) and that would get obnoxious becuase they would probably never go below to hell.....

And I don't know a lot about Norse mythology, but I'm sure Rick would write an awesome series about it.

I really hope he doesn't make Loki the bad guy. Besides being predictable, everyone seems to forget the heroic things Loki has done in the myths

He said, "And in other big news as reported today by the Associated Press, my next series will feature Norse mythology. This won't come as a huge surprise to anyone who's heard me talk about my background. I've loved Norse mythology for as long as I've loved Greek & Roman. The idea for the series has been around since even before the Lightning Thief, so I can't wait to get going on it at last! But, of course, it won't happen immediately. I need to finish up with the Kane Chronicles and Heroes of Olympus first. The Norse series is tentatively scheduled to launch in 2015. If that changes, I'll let you know." Oh my gosh! i can't believe i haven't looked at the blog yet!
2015 is such a long time to wait but i'm sure it'll be worth it.
The thing with mythology for me, is I need an inspiration / incentive to search for in . The PJ series gave me the incentive to search for Greek / Roman myths , and now i'm hooked on them.
Did anybody else find it awesome how he made Thalia's name Thalia Grace
and then in Greek Mythology there a graces - and ones called Thalia?
haha yeah - i found that cool X)

I've only checked Wikipedia for extra info. Have you read the works of Homer or something like that? Cause I'd love to tackle it. Say what? When and here did you hear this? I crave details!!! I seriously love the Kane Chronicles. At first I was really worried that a transition to Egyptian Mythology might not work out, but then I realized how dumb that was, lol. So yeah, I can't wait for his Norse mythology books as well. Even though 2015 means I'll be in college... loooong way away!!

I adore Norse mythology. If he does write it, i know that Loki will be epic. He's supposed to be like, the trickster god, the I-will-do-whatever-the-hades-i-want guy, and all of the gods are always pissed off at him for various things.
